Objective: By the end of this 45-minute lesson, the student will be able to identify and use question words (who, what, where, when, why, how) in simple sentences to ask and answer questions.

Materials Needed

  • Printed pictures showing different scenarios (people, places, actions)

Detailed Activities

Introduction to Question Words

  1. Begin by showing the student the index cards with question words and say each word aloud together.
  2. Explain that these words help us ask questions when we want to learn something new.
  3. Use pictures to demonstrate simple questions, for example, showing a picture of a boy and asking, ‘Who is this?’
Practice Forming Questions

  1. Show a picture and ask the student to choose the correct question word from the index cards to ask about it.
  2. Help the student form a full question using the chosen word, guiding them to say it aloud.
  3. Write the question on the worksheet and have the student copy it.
Answering Questions

  1. Ask the student simple questions using different question words based on the pictures.
  2. Encourage the student to answer using complete sentences.
  3. Provide positive feedback and correct gently if needed.
