Teacher’s Guide

Common Misconceptions:

  • Children may think listening is just hearing and not actively processing the information.
  • Some children might confuse details with the main idea, so clarifying the difference is important.

Scaffolding Ideas:

For Struggling Students:

  • Use shorter stories or break the story into smaller parts for better focus.
  • Incorporate visual aids like pictures or story maps to support understanding.
For Advanced Students:

  • Encourage making predictions about the story’s ending before reading it.
  • Ask your child to create their own questions about the story to challenge comprehension.

Pacing Recommendations:

  • Spend extra time on questioning and discussion for a deeper understanding.
  • Adjust the length of the story or number of questions based on your child’s attention span.
