These two connected 45-minute first-grade writing lessons teach students to state an opinion, give one reason, and then finish their writing with a simple closing statement. Lesson 1 establishes the opinion-and-reason sentence. Lesson 2 revisits that structure and adds a closing statement to create a complete short opinion piece. Use the worksheet supplied separately for any required reading passage; this guide does not reproduce or create a student reading passage.
