These two connected 45-minute first-grade lessons develop recognition of common spelling patterns and then apply that knowledge to smooth, accurate decodable reading. Lesson 1 teaches the patterns -at, -an, and -ight. Lesson 2 builds fluency through repeated reading of the exact decodable sentences provided on the student worksheet; no passage is reproduced in this plan.
