These two connected 45-minute lessons build kindergarten students' ability to hear and recognize rhyming word patterns, then use repeated language patterns to read a supplied worksheet passage aloud with increasing confidence. Lesson 1 focuses on hearing and identifying rhymes. Lesson 2 applies attention to repeated words and phrases during oral reading. Use the exact reading passage printed on the worksheet; do not create or substitute a passage.
