Overview
These two connected 45-minute Grade 8 foundational reading lessons use a teacher-provided worksheet passage. Lesson 1 builds students' ability to notice word patterns and compare how diction shapes tone and meaning. Lesson 2 applies the Lesson 1 diction analysis to oral reading, with students using phrasing, pace, pauses, and emphasis to communicate the passage's meaning and tone.
