Two connected 45-minute lessons develop place-value understanding before applying it to comparisons and ordering. Lesson 1 uses household objects, groups of ten, drawings, and a place-value chart to represent numbers through 120. Lesson 2 reuses those representations to compare numbers by examining the greatest place first and then order numbers from least to greatest.
